Arrest Made In Cold Case Murder Of 11-Year-Old Norwalk Girl

A man has been arrested in connection to the cold case of the murder of an 11-year-old Norwalk girl.

Marc J. Karun of Stetson, Maine, was arrested on a warrant for the sexual assault and murder of Kathleen Flynn on Sept. 23, 1986 as a fugitive from justice as he left his residence on Wednesday, June, 12, at 11:20 a.m., by members of the Maine State Police Major Crime Unit of Troop E Bangor along with their Tactical Unit, according to the Norwalk Police Department.

Karun is being held at the Penobscot County Jail until his terms of extradition are determined, said police.

Police Lt. Art Weisgerber and Sgt. Alex Tolnay were in Bangor, Maine, to execute the warrant.

“We wish to thank the Norwalk Police Department for bringing Kathleen’s murderer to justice," the Flynn family said in a statement released Thursday afternoon, June 13. "This continues to be a very difficult time for us and we do not wish to make any further comments. We ask the media to please respect our privacy."
